Facebook fact-checks a Federalist article fact-checking a fact-check, of course: Conservative outlet The Federalist posted one of its articles on its Facebook page, and received a fact-check for it. The article, ironically, was fact-checking a previous fact-check. Can 2020 get any stranger? The article took a look at a previously fact-check that attempted to discredit claims that a video taken in a Georgia ballot counting facility showed workers pulling out suitcases of ballots hidden under a table after poll watchers and media were told that counting was done for the night and sent home. That fact-check, done by left-wing Lead Stories, said that the ballots were not in suitcases and that poll watchers had not been told to leave. Lead Stories relied on the statements of several officials in its fact-check. The Federalist relied on sworn affidavits from Republican overseers to counter the claims that Lead Stories made in its fact-check. Once this article was posted on its Facebook page, Facebook added yet another Lead Stories fact-check, calling The Federalist's article "partly false information." This one is titled: "GOP Observers did NOT swear in affidavits they were told to leave Fulton County, Georgia, vote count center on election night." It will be interesting to see if The Federalist counters this new fact-check with another article of their own.
