Photo of Trump's assassination attempt marked as "false information":  A Facebook user changed her cover photo to the now-famous image of Donald Trump following an attempted assassination at a rally. Following the update, Facebook marked her post as "false information" following a fact check by independent fact-checkers. The platform stated, 'Independent fact-checkers reviewed a similar photo and said it was false." The notice referred to a fact check written by Africa Check that addressed an altered photo that circulated widely in which the secret service agents were smiling. However, the user posted the original photo, not the altered photo.
