Facebook censors climate change joke: Young Americans for Liberty posted a screenshot of a news headline from January 2024 that read: Arctic Sea Ice Soars to Highest Level for 21 years. Making fun of the claim, the group captioned the post with the words, "Globalists soon: 'We need to combat the coming ice age! We need $100 trillion and total government control or everyone will die!'" Facebook placed a fact check label on the post that claimed it was missing context. "Independent fact-checkers say this information is missing context and could mislead people," the notice claimed. The platform linked to a Logically Facts fact check and a Reuters fact check which claimed "Climate change sceptics use misleading Arctic ice data to make case." Facebook also presented users with a warning before allowing the post to be shared, requiring an additional confirmation before a user can share the post.
