Republican Vice Presidential nominee J.D. Vance called out the legacy media for remaining silent as prominent leftist politicians called for censorship.

Vance bashed outlets such as CNN and CBS during an Oct. 31 interview with popular podcast host Joe Rogan. Vance pilloried the media for ignoring censorship advocacy including former 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s horrifying comment that censorship is necessary to avoid the the risk that “we lose total control.”

Vance told Rogan, “That’s the whole point. You don't want people to have total control. And that they, they can utter it without the American media going completely bananas just suggests that there is something broken about the political culture of the left.”

Vance continued. “There are people on CNN and you know, CBS and… all these corporate networks that will say, you know, when Donald J. Trump says that if you riot after the election, you're the enemy of the people or you're an enemy within like that is a major threat to democracy. But Hillary Clinton saying that we should censor disinformation, they're just, yeah, no, no big deal.”

Vance continued to rip the media, contrasting its disproportional responses to Democrats vs. Republicans. Vance alluded to the media’s ridiculous hyperventilating over former president Donald Trump’s response to the violent and destructive 2020 Black Lives Matter riots. And yet, the Ohio senator told Rogan, “[The Media] don’t care at all when Hillary Clinton and Tim Walz endorse explicit censorship that should scare the hell out of us.”

Vance mentioned Gov. Walz due to an outrageous comment the governor made during an MSNBC appearance: “I think we need to push back on this, there’s no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech and especially around our democracy.” Vance blasted Walz for this anti-free speech remark during the 2024 Vice Presidential Debate.

Rogan and Vance also discussed the culture of censorship against frank discussion of transgenderism on social media. Both credited X-owner Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter for a huge shift in favor of free speech on social media.
