Andrew Ferguson, the new Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), asked the American people to send him examples of Big Tech censorship. The Media Research Center has just the tool to deliver.

Since the department’s creation back in 2018, MRC Free Speech America has amassed more than 8,000 cases of documented censorship in its CensorTrack database.

MRC researchers have spent more than seven years collecting cases of Big Tech censorship into the unique CensorTrack database, and have now surpassed 8,000 cases. The 8,000th case involved TikTok removing a comment that quoted Mahatma Gandhi: “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” The communist Chinese government-tied platform claimed this quote violated its community guidelines but did not explain how.

MRC Free Speech America Director Michael Morris challenged Big Tech companies, saying “Big Tech censors, you are on notice. MRC has been at the forefront of this issue since before 2018 with the launch of MRC TechWatch, and we now have 8,000 receipts showing the dangers of censorship that we will be turning over to the FTC. MRC never stopped documenting censorship, even when Biden’s administration looked the other way, and in many cases encouraged Big Tech to censor more.”

The Murthy v. Missouri case, which cited MRC research, showed just how invested the government had been in censoring its own citizenry. MRC reports revealed that no fewer than nine federal agencies under President Joe Biden pressured Big Tech platforms to censor American’s speech.

Such censorship as highlighted in the Murthy case is far from harmless. An MRC survey demonstrated how efforts to suppress stories unflattering to Biden, such as his son Hunter’s laptop, were effective in shifting votes to Biden in the 2020 election. Big Tech played a large part in keeping the damaging story from potential voters.

Now that President Donald Trump has taken action through executive orders to protect American rights, and named a new Chairman at the FTC that is laser focused on protecting the constitutional right to free speech, MRC Free Speech America is ready to provide documentation of Big Tech censorship that occurred before and while the Biden regime was exerting pressure on Big Tech companies to do just that.
