Facebook rejects ad for audio booklet paraphrasing William Bradford's historical writings because the title mentioned socialism: Word Foundations a blog that discusses topics related to Christianity, social issues, and politics, attempted to boost a post on Facebook that linked to an audio presentation of a booklet he made paraphrasing Gov. William Bradford's writings. According to screenshots he posted on his blog, he wrote in his post: "Micah Sample reads an account you won't soon forget in the audio presentation of "Ditching Socialism in the New World." It's a paraphrase of WIlliam Bradford's record of the Pilgrims' failed a two-year experiment in socialism. Eighteen-and-a-half minutes in length. The Download is, currently, free." Facebook notified the user that the ad was running and then shortly after rejected the boost on the post. The user did not share a screenshot of the Facebook notification he received explaining why the platform would not boost the post but Facebook has refused to boost two similar posts because of the requirements of the platform's "Ads about Social Issues, Elections or Politics" policy. The policy prohibits "mention[ing] politicians or [...] sensitive social issues that could influence public opinion, how people vote and may impact the outcome of an election or pending legislation."
