TikTok Bans Women's Clothing Brand Over Ad that Argued Biological Males Shouldn't Compete in Women's Sports: Chinese social media company TikTok banned XX-XY's account because the women's clothing brand had released an ad arguing that women should not be subjected to competition from biological males and that women needed to take a stand to ensure equal opportunity for aspiring female athletes. "If you know that it isn't fair or safe to allow males to compete in girls' sports because it's, well, obvious," a girl narrator read, "Stand up. Don't be cowed by people who call you a bigot. You're not a bigot." TikTok deemed this ad "offensive" and sent a notice to XX-XY announcing that the brand would never again be able to advertise on the platform. "Our review indicates that your advertising content may violate TikTok's advertising policies by featuring offensive content," TikTok's notice read. XX-XY's CEO Jennifer Sey, in an exclusive interview with MRC Free Speech America, said “TikTok is denying my brand the ability to reach the close to 50% of people under the age of 30 who spend time on TikTok,” Sey explained. “They have thrown up a significant barrier to reaching the population of women under 30, a primary target for us. But, I’m not giving up.”
