TAN Books

Facebook and Instagram Prohibit Catholic Publisher, TAN Books from running ads for certain books: On January 24, Facebook banned ads for Dr. Carrie Gress' book "The Anti-Mary Exposed: Rescuing the Culture from Toxic Femininity" because it allegedly didn't "comply with [its] Commerce Policies." Facebook however had no problem allowing ads for the book when it first came out nearly two years prior. According to a Crisis Magazine article written by author Paul Kengor, in February Facebook also pulled advertising for his book "The Devil and Karl Marx" because of a "Temporary Restriction on Ads About Social Issues, Elections or Politics.” Kengor said Facebook also disallowed ads for two other books by the same publisher including "Motherhood Redeemed: How Radical Feminism Betrayed Motherly Love" and a children's book called "Stations of the Cross."  Facebook claims the books violate its policy because "Ads must not contain shocking, sensational, inflammatory, or excessively violent content."  It seems motherhood and anti-feminism were considered "inflammatory" and a tastefully drawn crucifix for children was too "shocking" and "excessively violent."
