Facebook "fact-checks" Jerry Nadler quote: A Facebook user posted a meme that quoted Representative Jerry Nadler. The meme used a photo of Nadler, and had the following text over it: "'God has no authority in the House of Representatives.' Congressman Jerry Nadler, Thursday February 25, 2021 at approximately 345 PM EST in a hearing televised on C-span." Facebook placed a "False Information" "fact-check" over the meme, requiring users to click through in order to view it. One of the articles that was used to "fact-check" the meme was a Politifact piece. Politifact ruled the meme as "false information" because the correct Nadler quote from this hearing actually said: "what any religious tradition describes as God's will is no concern of this Congress." While this quote is substantially similar in meaning, Politifact ruled solely on the words used, which were substantially different, thus ruled it "false."
