Instagram temporarily disabled Kyle Rittenhouse's account just a couple of days after it allowed the account:  Eighteen-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse was charged with first-degree murder after he killed two men and injured another in self-defense during one of the 2020 Antifa riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Newsweek reported that Instagram reinstated Rittenhouse's account after he was acquitted, and "just days" later the platform disabled his account. The account was restored later the same day. Instagram allegedly told Newsweek that the account was "'mistakenly'" removed. Newsweek noted that the Instagram censorship occurred shortly after Facebook removed most of the restrictions it placed on searching Kyle Rittenhouse's name or praising Rittenhouse.
