The HighWire

Health News Talk Show deplatformed from Facebook: "The HighWire" – a show from the publishers at Informed Consent Action Network (ICAN) – has been deplatformed by Facebook for violating policies on "misinformation that could cause physical harm," according to a Facebook post from ICAN. The digital health news talk show is hosted by Del Matthew Bigtree, a well-known anti-vaccine activist. "Over the course of 190 weekly episodes, 'The HighWire with Del Bigtree' has accrued a viewership of more than 1.5 million," stated the social media post from ICAN. The post indicated that prior to its deletion the show garnered more than 30 million views and 360,000 followers. It also added that Facebook's reasoning for unpublishing the shows page was "vague, and did not identify a specific violation." Additionally, YouTube removed the show's channel in July, according to an article from NBC news, for reportedly "downplaying the severity of the coronavirus pandemic."
