House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan is investigating yet another realm of potential Big Tech-government coordination to crush free speech.

Jordan announced in a March 13 press release that he had sent letters to multiple artificial intelligence companies requesting information on whether or not the Biden-Harris administration pressured or coordinated with them to censor content.

In the press release, Jordan clarified that he sent the letters to Adobe, Alphabet, Amazon, Anthropic PBC, Apple, Cohere, International Business Machines Corp., Inflection AI, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, Open AI, Palantir Technologies, Salesforce, Scale AI, and Stability AI. Jordan also accused the federal government of pressuring AI companies to mitigate alleged “harmful bias” and “algorithmic discrimination” during development.

In the letter to Google’s parent company Alphabet, for instance, Jordan described the Biden-Harris administration’s aggressive censorship campaign against AI, through “supposedly voluntary ‘frameworks,’ ‘blueprints,’ ‘resources,’ and ‘commitments,’ [which] regulated new AI models directly and indirectly.” According to Jordan’s letter, the administration further insisted on efforts to “advance equity” and “mitigate the production of harmful and biased outputs.”

Former Vice President Kamala Harris, who was the AI czar, stunned Americans with her rambling definition, “AI is kind of a fancy thing. First of all, it’s two letters. It means artificial intelligence, but ultimately what it is, is it’s about machine learning.” MRC VP for Free Speech Dan Schneider explained, “For the left AI was about determining what people think, to mold their opinions.”

Per the letter, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) was also delegated on the government’s behalf to “establish an enduring capability to lead voluntary unclassified pre-deployment safety testing of frontier AI models,” Jordan asserted.

The House Judiciary accused the administration of “coordinat[ing] its AI regulatory efforts with foreign governments” such as the European Union in a 2024 meeting.

Jordan concluded by requesting “documents and communications from January 1, 2020, to January 20, 2025, referring or relating to the moderation, deletion, suppression, restriction, or reduced circulation of the content, input, or output of an AI model, training dataset, algorithm, system, or product.”

AI chatbots have been programmed to censor free speech numerous times in the past. For instance, in December 2023, Google admitted that its Gemini would have strict “bias and toxicity” restrictions. Also, Glenn Beck reported in January that he, along with a friend of his, caught the Chinese AI DeepSeek censoring and rewriting history about Chinese Communist Party atrocities in real time.
