Liberal news sources appear to have a problem with more than just InfoWars: now they’re going after the Daily Caller.
According to The Wall Street Journal, during an off-the-record meeting with Facebook last week, editors from BuzzFeed and HuffPost took offense to even including the Daily Caller in the meeting.
The Wall Street Journal claims Ben Smith, the editor-in-chief of BuzzFeed, allegedly questioned the Daily Caller’s journalistic standards. The report also claims the editor-in-chief of HuffPost, Lydia Polgreen, also shared her similar concerns about the Daily Caller’s journalistic integrity.
Polgreen’s gripes about the Daily Caller’s integrity, ironically, appear to come from the Daily Caller unveiling old tweets from a HuffPost staffer, Philip Lewis, joking about the Holocaust and praising Rev. Louis Farrakhan prior to him joining the site that prompted an investigation. Lewis is currently the front page editor of The Huffington Post, according to his byline.
The Wall Street Journal asserts Smith claimed there were approximately a dozen publishers represented at the meeting with Facebook, with nearly half representing conservative perspectives, such as the Daily Caller and The Weekly Standard. Smith allegedly said the number of conservative outlets at the meeting “implied a fundamental misconception” about the nature of journalism, according to The Wall Street Journal.
The meeting with Facebook came before representatives from Facebook, Google, and Twitter, answered questions in front of the House Judiciary Committee on the topic of social media filtering.
