X community adds a context note to Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) post: The X account for Rep. Tony Gonzales posted "Today, over 100 veterans across South and West Texas published a letter declaring their support for Tony Gonzales in the May 28th runoff election and denouncing Brandon Herrera for his irreverent comments mocking veteran suicide. #TX23" The post linked to a press release about the subject on his campaign web site. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Brandon's joke from @UnsubscribeCast was taken out of context. @TheAKGuy clarified it was a joke in the full clip. Veterans in the room laughed at the joke. Tony is, again, trying to manipulate voters' emotions for votes. Many veterans have endorsed Brandon: x.com/DonutOperator/… Full clip: x.com/daltonsuttonio…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
