Twitter censors user for exposing abuse of camels: A Twitter user shared a screenshot of his Twitter censorship notice. The user tweeted "Camels are BLOODIED & BEATEN in Egypt's tourism industry. Animals aren't here to be exploited." The user's tweet was a QT of a tweet from PETA Asia that included video showing camels being abused. According to the purported screenshot, Twitter claimed that the user's tweet violated its "rules against posting media depicting gratuitous gore." The message went on to note that "You may not share excessively graphic media (e.g., severe injuries, torture). Exposure to gratuitous gore can be harmful, especially if the content is posted with intent to delight in cruelty or for sadistic pleasure." The user, who lists "Animal Advocate" in his profile, stated that "The tweet's intent was NOT 'to delight in cruelty or for sadistic pleasure.' Rather, I'm trying to help END this cruelty." The user's account was locked until he deleted the tweet. The PETA tweet was not censored as of the time of publication.
