Instagram fact-checks satirical article: A Twitter user shared a screenshot of his Instagram censorship notice. The user had shared a satirical article titled "AOC: 'I don't need truckers, I get my food from the grocery store.'" The article was from the Genesius Times, which uses the tagline, "The most reliable source of fake news on the planet." Instagram applied a "False Information" fact-check to the article, citing fact-check pieces by PolitiFact and the Associated Press, which explained that the article was from a satirical news site, yet people began sharing the article on "social media as if real." According to Facebook, users fail to click through fact-check interstitials 95% of the time. Instagram is owned by Facebook, and may see similar results when posts are fact-checked. The user also reported that the user's account was restricted for 90 days as a result, saying that he was told that his "'(new posts) won't appear in certain places.' That means shadow ban."
