Protect the Vaccinated Meme

Facebook fact-checks another COVID meme: A Facebook page posted a meme with the following text: "The protected need to be protected from the unprotected by forcing the unprotected to use the protection that didn't protect the protected." Facebook placed a fact-check label over it, labeling it "Partly False Information." The fact-check linked to an article by Lead Stories titled: "Fact Check: 'The Shot' Is NOT Failing -- It Prevents Most Infections And Reduces Symptoms Of Breakthrough Infections." While the meme calls the COVID vaccines "the protection that didn't protect the protected," it seems more to be implying that they must not have worked if people who got them need to be protected from the unvaccinated. This is more a statement about the policies and rhetoric coming from the highest levels of our government than a statement about whether the vaccines actually work or not, which is what the fact-check is addressing. According to Facebook, users fail to click through fact-check interstitials 95% of the time.
