X community adds a context note to Eric Adams post: New York City Mayor Eric Adams posted "We call New York City the Port-Au-Prince of America. We feel the pain our Haitian neighbors feel as the situation grows dire.  To the people of Haiti and our own Haitian community here in New York City, know that we stand with you today and always." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Important context: no one other than Eric Adams has called NYC the "Port-Au-Prince of America." Search results for "Port-Au-Prince of America": google.com/search?q=%22po… Same search, but excluding "Adams": google.com/search?q=%22po…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
