Instagram disables outdoor account after failing to follow its own guidelines: Lone Star Outdoor Show had its Instagram account shut down, and the reason that Instagram used did not follow its own written guidelines. It seems that the hunting-focused account had multiple violations over time that ultimately led to the account being shut down, but the violations inappropriately used guidelines that have clear exceptions for hunting. In this case from October 2021, the user posted a viral video of man shooting a mountain lion that was preparing to attack him. The text that accompanied the video read: "Gotta give the elk hunter props for keeping his cool as long as he did. Tried not to kill it but at the end of the day human life always trumps animal life. The true apex predator walks on 2 feet. Also makes me feel guilty for leaving my .45 in my tent so many times while elk hunting. Tag the hunter if you know him." According to a screenshot shared with CensorTrack, Instagram claimed this post violated its "guidelines on coordinating harm or promoting crime." This guideline makes a clear exception for hunting-related posts, and never should have been applied for this post.
