Larry Elder

Facebook fact-checks political cartoon posted by Larry Elder: Facebook imposed a fact-check label on a political cartoon that GOP presidential candidate Larry Elder posted February 28 mocking Biden-endorsed amendments to the World Health Organization (WHO) treaty. Critics have said the amendments would essentially give U.S. sovereignty over to the WHO in case of a pandemic, even as Communist Chinese Party (CCP) influence over the WHO grows. The cartoon Elder posted showed Biden handing a chest marked “U.S. Sovereignty” to a jester wearing a “WHO” cap and resembling WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. “China is gonna love this,” says a thought bubble over the jester’s head. Elder posted it with the comment “#CCPChina.” Facebook’s label says, “Missing context. Independent fact-checkers say this information could mislead people.” The label links to a Lead Stories fact-check titled, “Fact Check: WHO Pandemic Treaty Does NOT Supplant US Sovereignty.”
