X community adds a context note to Jake Shields post: Former UFC/MMA fighter Jake Shields posted "The European Union is trying to ban Tucker Carlson over his interview with Vladimir Putin Is it Putin or the EU who are actually the authoritarians?" The post included a screenshot of a Newsweek headline reading "Exclusive: Tucker Carlson Could Face Sanctions Over Putin Interview. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. The suggestion to sanction Tucker Carlson was made by a single member of the European Parliament. However the Parliament does not have the power to sanction individuals. Source: newsweek.com/tucker-carlson…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
