X community adds a context note to Jake Shields's post: Former UFS/MMA fighter Jake Shields posted in response to another user saying "BREAKING: PENTAGON GREENLIGHTS MAJOR MILITARY WEAPON SALE TO ISRAEL. The Secretary of State approves foreign military sale to Israel. The deal will include M107 155mm projectiles fuses, charges and primers, valued at $147.5 million. It's the second time this month that the Biden administration has bypassed Congress to approve an emergency weapons sale to Israel." Shields's response read "Anthony Blinken our Secretary of State is Likely a dual citizen to Israel yet he’s bypassing congress to sell weapons to Israel How is this not a conflict of interest." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Antony Blinken is not a dual citizen. erldc.org/united-states/…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
