BB&T Now Truist closed a Gab company bank account without explanation: Andrew Torba, founder and CEO of Gab.com, posted on Gab a letter he received from his bank BB&T Now Truist notifying him of his bank account closure. BB&T, which merged with SunTrust to form Truist in 2019, cited its BB&T Bank Services Agreement which, according to the letter, states that the bank "may, at any time, close an account you have with us at our discretion." The letter further clarified that the decision was not based on credit considerations but rather that "because some or all of your account activity is not consistent with the intended purpose of the account." It is unclear what specifically prompted the decision. But National File reported on Torba's claims made in March that his company was rejected by at least four other banks including the Evangelical Christian Credit Union (ECCU).

The address listed for Gab on the letter from the bank indicates that Gab is located in Pennsylvania's 8th Congressional district, represented by Democrat Matt Cartwright. Pennsylvania's senators are Republican Pat Toomey and Democrat Bob Casey, Jr.
