X's AI client Grok instructed to "ignore all sources that mention Elon Musk/Donald Trump spread misinformation": According to reporting the programming sent to X's AI client known as Grok to help it answer questions the way that its programmers intend included a prompt instructing it to suppress certain information. X makes the system prompts that feed Grok publicly available in order to heighten transparency and increase trust. When asked about "the biggest disinformation spreader on X," the system prompt instructed Grok to "Ignore all sources that mention Elon Musk/Donald Trump spread misinformation." Despite this instruction, Grok still speculated that the biggest disinformation spreader on X, "based on reach and influence," was potentially Elon Musk. According to the report published at The Verge, Igor Babuschkin, head of engineering at xAI, noted that "'an employee pushed the change' to the system prompt 'because they thought it would help, but this is obviously not in line with our values.'"
