Collin Rugg

X’s Community Notes claims missing context: Collin Rugg posted, "NEW: The federal government will be sending you a nationwide emergency disaster alert "test" on Wednesday whether you like it or not. Odd. The purpose of the test, according to Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Federal Communications Commission, is to make sure the messaging system is working in case a disaster strikes. The test is set to begin at 2:20pm eastern time on Wednesday, October 4th and a message will be sent to your phone." X’s Community Notes added a context graph to the post that currently reads, "By law the system must be tested at least once every three years. The most recent test was in 2021. fema.gov/sites/default/…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts.
