Twitter community adds a context note to Benny Johnson tweet:  Journalist and podcast host Benny Johnson tweeted, “White House Transcript, folks.” The tweet was a reference to his previous tweet that had a Community Note applied that referred to the official White House transcript for some remarks made by President Joe Biden. The tweet was accompanied by an apparent screenshot from the transcript that read "President Biden: Okay. We - I was just thanking the - anyway, I started off without you, and I sold a lot of state secrets and a lot of very important things that we shared. (Laughter)." Twitter added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "This transcript image is deceptively edited to give the appearance a joke was made in seriousness. The next phrase was edited out: 'All kidding aside...'" The context note also included a link to the official White House transcript to support the note. The label is part of Twitter’s Community Notes system. Twitter users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to tweets.
