Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney behind the alleged incoming indictment of former President Donald J. Trump, boasted about his ability to prosecute Trump even before taking office as DA.
Bragg touted his experience investigating Trump in an interview with Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning” during his run for Manhattan DA. He said prosecuting Trump was “the number one issue.”
“A lot of people are wondering, whoever has this job are they going to convict Donald Trump,” host Ebro Darden asked. “That is the number one issue,” Bragg responded. “What I'll say is I'm the only–I was the first to announce against Cy Vance. I too have a lot of issues which is why I decided to run. I'm the candidate in the race who has the experience with Donald Trump. I was the Chief Deputy in the Attorney General's Office. We sued the Trump administration over a hundred times. For the Muslim travel ban, for family separation at the border, for shenanigans with the census. So I know how to litigate with him.”
Bragg warned that he was ready to follow the facts. “I also led the team that did the Trump foundation case. So I'm ready to go wherever the facts take me and to inherit that case, and I think you know it'd be hard to argue with the fact that that's that'd be the most important most high-profile case. And I've seen him up front and seen the lawlessness that he can do.”
Ebro then asked Bragg if Trump should be prosecuted. “I believe we have to hold him accountable,” Bragg replied. “I haven't seen all the facts beyond the public but I've litigated with him, and so I'm prepared to go where the facts take me once I see them and hold them accountable.”
Bragg’s comments and recent rumors that he will indict Trump are unsurprising considering his ties to Soros money, which are under scrutiny. Bragg was elected District Attorney of Manhattan in November 2021 and received over $1 million in aid from the Color Of Change PAC, a group that received funding from leftist mega-donor George Soros, Daily Mail reported on Mar. 20.
The New York Times reported on Jun. 21, 2021, that Soros “pledged $1 million to the super PAC Color of Change, aimed at helping another district attorney candidate, Alvin Bragg.” The Times added that “[a] spokeswoman for the super PAC said that nearly $500,000 had been spent on Mr. Bragg’s behalf” at the time. The Soros-tied Color Of Me PAC pulled out half of that donation after an unnamed woman made a “disturbing allegation” against Bragg. The details of the claims and the woman's identity remain unknown, according to Daily Mail.
Bragg told CNN on Dec. 20, 2021, that he planned to personally focus on the “high-profile probe into former President Trump.”
Bragg’s anti-Trump rhetoric extended to his Twitter accounts. Bragg’s campaign, “All In for Alvin,” boasted about his involvement in the New York Attorney General’s civil case against the Trump Foundation, which involved alleged unlawful coordination with Trump’s 2016 campaign. “Congrats to @NewYorkStateAG and the Charities Bureau for the $2 million order in the Trump Foundation case. So proud to have worked with this team and helped file this case.”

On May 5, 2021, Bragg tweeted he had the “experience necessary to serve as” DA because he had “taken on Donald Trump.”
