Young Americans for Liberty

Facebook places a fact check label on a Young Americans for Liberty post: Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) posted an image of a headline from the "Genesius Times," a satire web site. The headline read "Man who accidentally left 300,000 guns for Taliban gives lecture on gun control," and included a photo of President Joe Biden. YAL added its own commentary to the post, saying "Mr. President, maybe you should sit this one out." Facebook's label under the post reads "See information from third-party fact-checkers." After clicking the "See why" link, users are informed that the post contains "Partly false information." The note linked to a PolitiFact fact check headlined "No proof Biden left Taliban $80B in weapons, or that he wants Americans' pistols." Facebook further restricts this post by showing a notice of the fact check whenever a user tries to "Share" the post. This notice must be clicked through in order to share the post.
