World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific

X community adds a context note to World Health Organization post: The X account for the World Health Organization (WHO) Western Pacific posted "Don't get hooked! E-cigarettes are presented in thousands of appealing flavours and with misleading claims to hook children and adolescents. #CommitToQuit all forms of tobacco and e-cigarette use for a healthier life." The post included an infographic highlighting "The dangers of e-cigarettes." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know." It then provided a link to counter every one of the "dangers" listed on the infographic, using sources such as The American Heart Association, CNN and various peer-reviewed journal articles. The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
