X community adds a context note to White House post:  The White House's official X account posted, “Because of the Biden-Harris Administration, Americans are seeing lower costs and getting much-needed breathing room.” The post included an infographic that highlighted how "The Biden-Harris Administration Is Lowering Costs For You." These included things such as "Lowering home energy bills, reducing the cost of prescriptions, and "Reducing internet bills by $30-$75 per month for eligible households." X added a context label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. According to the government's own data, Americans are seeing costs 17% higher overall since Biden took office. data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpical…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk recently shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will now be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
