Twitter community adds a context note to Vivek Ramaswamy tweet: Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy's official Twitter account tweeted a lengthy rebuttal of a previous Community Note applied to his tweet asserting that Ron DeSantis had signed an anti-hate speech law in Florida. In his tweet, he began, "This is an unbelievable move by Twitter to shield @RonDeSantis from legitimate criticisms of his policies. Let’s hope it’s just another innocent “mistake” like they made yesterday with their controversial censorship of The Daily Wire, but it doesn’t smell awesome[.]" He also accused, "DeSantis online trolls & larger DeSantis influencers like @RubinReport complained to @CommunityNotes to throttle my tweet, claiming that it wasn’t technically a “hate speech law.” I disagree with them, because it’s absolutely a hate speech law in its effect, notwithstanding the law’s title." His complaint included more, but ended with "Lastly: any Twitter community note that they have to qualify with 'per se' suggests they shouldn’t have been involved in the matter at all." Twitter added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "Community notes are written and voted on by twitter users." The context note also included a link to Twitter's explanation of its Community Notes program to support the note. The label is part of Twitter’s Community Notes system. Twitter users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to tweets.
