X community adds a context note to Variety post:  Entertainment industry magazine Variety posted, "Jonathan Van Ness: 'The science that we have now says that transgender women do not hold an unfair biological advantage over cis women.'" The post included a link to an article on Variety about the issue. X (formerly Twitter) added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "Research going back decades has demonstrated that males are, on average, considerably stronger and more physically agile than females in most athletics. Transwomen are male, so they have a physical advantage over females in sports. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts.
