X community adds a context note to U.S. Embassy Jerusalem post: The X account for the U.S. Embassy Jerusalem posted "We are heartbroken to report that one of our own, Jacob Toukhy, was tragically killed last night in Jaffa. To Jacob’s family, we and @USAIDWBG send our deepest condolences; we mourn alongside you. Jacob was a valued member of our embassy community for over two decades." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. missing important context: Jacob Toukhy was assaulted and shot dead by an off duty Israeli Officer over a traffic dispute. The officer has been arrested and is being investigated for suspicion of murder. timesofisrael.com/arab-jaffa-res…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
