X community adds a context note to United Democracy Project post: The X account for the United Democracy Project (UDP) posted a campaign ad against Brandon Herrera. Josh Kraushaar, a political analyst, had posted the ad with the message "SCOOP @J_Insider via @marcrod96: "AIPAC launches ad blitz against Brandon Herrera, challenger to Rep. Tony Gonzales" #TX23. 'The UDP ad accuses Herrera, who opposes U.S. foreign aid, says that Herrera 'glorifies Nazis and mocks the Holocaust.''" The UDP re-post of Kraushaar's post noted "Brandon Herrera thinks Veteran suicide is a joke." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Brandon has never glorified Nazis; he often covers various guns throughout history on his YouTube channel: youtube.com/@brandonherrera This ad is also taking Brandon's words out of context from a 2-hour-long podcast to manipulate voters' emotions about veteran suicide. Full clip: twitter.com/daltonsuttonio…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
