UAW

X’s Community Notes claims missing context: The United Auto Workers union (UAW) posted, "After members of the UAW walked off the job at midnight, Twitter stripped the union of its account verification without notice. Its blue check was restored shortly after the story began circulating widely." The post included a link to an article from the The Intercept about the issue titled “UAW Temporarily Loses Twitter Verification as Union Strikes Against Big Three.” X’s Community Notes added a context graph to the post that currently reads, “According to X Support "Once subscribed, changes to your profile photo, display name, or username (@handle) will result in the loss of the blue checkmark until the account is validated as continuing to meet our requirements" help.twitter.com/en/using-twitt…” The current profile photo on the account says "United for a Strong Contract," an indication that it was changed once the strike began. The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts.
