X community adds a context note to Tyler Evans post: Tyler Evans, a former Design Director for Bernie Sanders and now for the Teamsters Union, posted "Average hourly pay for a Pizza Hut employee in California: $11.18 Total annual compensation for Pizza Hut parent company CEO David Gibbs in 2022: $16,600,000 I think they can afford to pay California workers $20 an hour, not lay them off during the holidays." The post included a New York Post article titled "California Pizza Hut franchises announce layoffs of delivery drivers before new $30 minimum wage." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. The current minimum wage in California is $15.50 an hour, which is well above the stated $11.18 'average' included in this post, the minimum is set to increase to $16 an hour in January 2024.
