Twitter community adds a context note to Trump War Room tweet: Trump War Room, an official account for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, tweeted, “When he was down 17 points in the FL gubernatorial race, Ron was SAVED by Pres. Trump’s game-changing endorsement. 'I’d like to thank our President for standing by me when it wasn't necessarily the smart thing to do,' Ron said after his 2018 win." The tweet included a video from a DeSantis rally that Trump spoke at. Twitter added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "Although the polls did favor Gillum, even after Trump’s June 2018 endorsement, DeSantis was never down by 17 points. There was one extreme outlier poll which had Gillum up by 12 points, but the overall RCP average was Gillum +3.6.” This note included several links to support this assertion. The label is part of Twitter’s Community Notes system. Twitter users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to tweets.
