Twitter community adds a context note to Trump War Room tweet: Trump War Room, an official account for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, tweeted, “On Day One, President Trump will sign an Executive Order ending automatic citizenship for the children of illegal aliens.” The tweet included a video from NewsMax with Trump making the statement that the tweet was based on. Twitter added a label to the post that read “Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read “Birthright citizenship is guaranteed by the text of the 14th Amendment, and cannot be changed by executive order.” A link to an American Enterprise Institute article from 2018 when Trump previously sparked a nationwide discussion about this issue was included to explain the constitutional provision. The label is part of Twitter’s Community Notes system. Twitter users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to tweets.
