JPMorgan Chase de-banks Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), investigation ensues: According to a letter sent to JPMorgan Chase by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier, the bank closed the accounts of TMTG, the organization that created the Truth Social social media platform. Uthmeier indicated that Chase took this action in March of 2024 following a completed merger that involved TMTG. Additionally, Uthmeier noted that just prior to the de-banking, Chase had initiated what it insisted was a "due diligence" mission after the Biden Department of Justice began an investigation into TMTG that involved the subpoena of TMTG records held by Chase. Uthmeier's letter to Chase detailed his intention to launch a full investigation into the actions taken against TMTG, and instructed Chase to preserve all relevant records.
