X community adds a context note to Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX) post: The X account for Rep. Tony Gonzales posted "Brandon Herrera isn’t even registered to vote in Texas. What a fraud!" The post included a still image from a Gonzalez political ad with text reading "East Coaster Brandon Herrera is a little lost." The still included graphics showing the distance between Fayetteville, NC and several Texas cities presumably in the contested district, including El Paso, Eagle Pass and San Antonio. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Brandon Herrera's family is from Texas. He born in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina due to his parents' military background. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
