X community adds a context note to Tom Fitton post: Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, posted "Is Kamala Harris ineligible to be President under the U.S. Constitution's 'Citizenship Clause'?" The post included a link to an opinion piece published in Newsweek by Claremont Institute senior fellow John C. Eastman titled "Some Questions for Kamala Harris About Eligibility." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Under the 14th Amendment's Naturalization Clause and the US v. Wong Kim Ark Supreme Court case, anyone born on US soil is a natural born citizen, regardless of parental citizenship. Kamala Harris was born in California, making her a US citizen and eligible to be president law.cornell.edu/wex/natural_bo… whitehouse.gov/administration…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
