Twitter community adds a context note to Team Trump tweet: Team Trump, the official account for Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, tweeted, "Truth from President Donald J. Trump:" The tweet included screenshots of a Donald Trump post on Truth Social that read "I couldn't care less if Ron DeSanctus runs, but the problem is the Bill he is about to sign, which allows him to run without resigning from being Governor, totally weakens Election Integrity in Florida. Instead of getting tough, and doing what the people want (same day voting, Voter ID, proof of Citizenship, paper ballots, hand count, etc.) this Bill guts everything.... It will allow dirty Voter rolls to get dirtier, weakens transparency, and is a total mess. It's simple, all we want is a Free and Fair Election, and an honest count." Twitter added a label to the post that read "Readers added context they thought people might want to know.” The added context read "Florida did not repeal or modify the “resign to run” law, SB 7050 simply clarifies that it does not apply to those campaigning for president or vice president. m.flsenate.gov/session/bill/2… Exceptions to the resign-to-run law are linked below: Original Statute (2017): leg.state.fl.us/Statutes/index… Current statute: flsenate.gov/Laws/Statutes/…” The label is part of Twitter’s Community Notes system.
