X community adds a context note to Seth Dillon post: Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon posted "Not satire: Washington state has passed a law offering cash as an incentive to report hate speech and bias via a 24/7 hotline. https://seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/wa-to-establish-hotline-for-hate-crimes-and-bias-incidents/." The post included a screenshot of the "Key Findings" for SB 5427. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Early versions of Senate Bill 5427 contained monetary compensation of $2,000, this was removed and is not present in the final bill. Final Senate Bill 5427: lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2023-…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
