X community adds a context note to Marco Rubio's post: Florida Senator Marco Rubio posted "TikTok used its app to force thousands of Americans to call their member of Congress to oppose banning the app. How are we still having a conversation about whether or not this app could be used to spread propaganda?" The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. TikTok encouraged its users to contact their representatives about an issue that was important to them. This lobbying tactic has been used by companies and special interest groups across the country on both sides of the political aisle for decades. ctb.ku.edu/en/table-of-co…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
