X community adds a context note to Lindsey Graham post: Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) posted a response to a Community Note that was added to another post of his and then removed. Among other things, the Community Note claimed that "Lindsey Graham has taken over $1 million from the Israel lobby." Graham's response noted "It’s one thing to be antisemitic, it’s another thing to be dumb and antisemitic. Criticizing my comments in support of Israel by saying I’m in the pocket of the Jewish lobby proves my point better than I could." The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. Lindsey Graham was not accused of being in “the pocket of the Jewish lobby” but rather having taken over $1 million from the Israel lobby, to present Israel’s interests, which is factually correct thanks to public reporting of funding. opensecrets.org/industries/sum…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
