X community adds a context note to Lindsey Graham post: Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) posted "It is blood libel and BS to say Israel is using starvation as a tool of war." The post included a video clip of Graham with Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu in which Graham makes the same accusation. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. 'Blood libel' is the myth that Jews sacrifice Christian kids to use their blood at Passover, not 'everything Israel doesn't like.' Israel is using starvation as a weapon of war. Lindsey Graham has taken over $1 million from the Israel lobby. These are not opinions." The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later. The note was later removed.
