Facebook fact-checkers flagged a post by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about the HPV vaccine: 2024 Democrat Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. posted an article from his non-profit organization Children's Health Defense and its publication The Defender about the HPV vaccine. "This first installment in a multi-part series about the human papillomavirus, or HPV, vaccine explores peer-reviewed scientific literature that reveals serious safety concerns about a vaccine widely regarded as safe," Kennedy wrote in his post. The article was authored by Dr. Yuhong Dong who, according to The Defender, is "a medical doctor who also holds a doctorate in infectious diseases from China, the chief scientific officer and co-founder of a Swiss biotech company and a former senior medical scientific expert for antiviral drug development at Novartis Pharma in Switzerland. Facebook added a "missing context" label under the post with the explanation that "Independent fact-checkers say this information is missing context and could mislead people." It also linked to a Health Feedback article which was a recycled response to previous claims that Kennedy has made, claiming that his objections to the vaccine, which he now noted as "widely regarded as safe," are unsupported.
