X community adds a context note to Rishi Sunak's post: Prime Minister of the UK Rishi Sunak posted "A nation that is dependent on the whims of dictators for its energy supply can never be truly safe. That is why we stopped Russian energy imports. But we must go further to protect our energy security. Here's what we're doing about it." The post linked to a copy of an article the PM wrote for The Telegraph posted on the official government web site, with "political content" having been redacted from the piece. The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. 'Unlike other countries in Europe, the UK is in no way dependent on Russian gas supply. ... There are no gas pipelines directly linking the UK with Russia and imports from Russia made up less than 4% of total UK gas supply in 2021.' gov.uk/government/new…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
