Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC)

X community adds a context note to Nancy Mace post: Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) got into an argument with X's Community Notes. Mace originally posted  an image of herself with text reading "$517,618,000 Authorized or Appropriated for SC-01." The X community added a note to the post explaining that Mace voted against the appropriations bill that authorized the funding. However, Mace disagreed with this note and expressed her disapproval by saying "The @CommunityNotes- y’all are so dumb. Go look up the NDAA, WRDA and PACT Act, all of which I voted for. I delivered for the lowcountry and will always continue to do so. Oh and do better." Hitting back at Mace, the X community added a note to this post, saying, "The bills mentioned are authorization bills, not appropriations bills, and thus do not fund the activities authorized. While Mace voted for these bills, she did not vote for the legislation that provided the funding to carry out these activities. crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/R/…." These labels are part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
