X community adds a context note to a Nancy Mace post: Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) posted about the news of the Alabama Supreme Court's ruling that frozen embryos are persons with a right to life, saying "'Some people are getting knocked for signing on to the Life of Conception Act, but that act doesn't do anything to ban or prohibit access to IVF. That’s a leftist myth.'" The X community added a note to the post that read: "Readers added context they thought people might want to know. The Life at Conception Act says that the term "human being" includes "all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization." This would include IVF as treatments may include the discarding of fertilized eggs businessinsider.com/house-republic… washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/…" The label is part of X’s Community Notes system. X users are able to sign up as contributors to add context to posts. X owner Elon Musk shared that any post with a Community Note added to it will be demonetized. The Community Notes account on X also posted that notices will be pushed to users who previously engaged with a post when a Community Note is added to it later.
